OUTWRITE
OutWrite provides a platform for emerging LGBTQ+ writers to showcase their work and connect with established authors and publishers. The festival is open to all members of the LGBTQ+ community, as well as allies, and seeks to create a welcoming and inclusive space for all attendees. The festival features a variety of events including readings, workshops, panel discussions, and performances by LGBTQ+ writers, poets, and artists. OutWrite aims to celebrate and promote the voices and stories of LGBTQ+ individuals in the literary community, and create a space for dialogue and connection among LGBTQ+ readers and writers. OutWrite is a vibrant and diverse literary festival that celebrates the creativity and talent of LGBTQ+ writers and artists, and fosters a sense of community and connection within the LGBTQ+ literary world in DC.
OUTWRITE CHAPBOOK COMPETITION
OutWrite holds an annual chapbook competition, in partnership with D.C.-based small press Neon Hemlock Press. The winning chapbooks from our 4th Chapbook Competition can be pre-ordered now and will be published by Neon Hemlock Press in December.
QUEER BOOK CLUB
Queer Book Club is a monthly book club reading and discussing LGBT literature. Spoken Word (Annually) Programming as part of outwrite and programming has a healing space along with our anti violence program and project. Library / We will have a library free of censorship about books written by LGBT Writers for the LGBT Community. This library will be used in conjunction with our Queer Book Club and Outwrite Readings.
LIT LOVERS BOOK CLUB
Join our new book club by Center Aging for LGBTQ+ Series. The group will meet in person at the DC LGBTQ+ Community Center. Check our events page for updated information.
RAINBOW QUILL SOCIETY
The Rainbow Quill Society is a valuable support class that offers donors perks for their support. The Rainbow Quill Society will play a crucial role in sustaining and strengthening literature programs. Donors who contribute to this initiative will help ensure that we can bring LGBTQ+ Authors, Poets, Publishers, and others in the publishing field to our community center.
